The 11 minute workout

Question From A JTF Newsletter Subscriber
I have a question about workouts having a lack of time to exercise and maybe you might have an answer. I am a 32 year old woman, who works full time and has 2 small children. I was not a fat child, but at the age of 17 I developped asthma and allergies and ever since then I have had a problem with my weight. I have to take an inhaled steroid every day or I cannot breathe, and occasionaly if I get sick I have to take oral steroids. When I first got diagnosed I was on high doses of steroids for a long time and was unable to do any activity and so I put on a lot of weight. Once things were under control, I worked really hard to get into shape. I saw a nutritionist and a trainer and worked out every day between 30 minutes and 3 hours. I was happy with the way I looked.

Over the next few years I had 2 children and 2 difficult pregnancies that had me on bedrest for many months. With my last pregnancy I gained 75 lbs. I was in bed and unfortunately subject to eat whatever people where kind enough to make me. That child is now 3 years old and I have be trying really hard to lose that weight and Its not working. I still see a nutrionist. I know a lot about food and the right things to eat. I think I am eating very well now. I have replaced breakfast with a protein shake, all that I drink is water and I eat very well. I do not have 3 hours a day to spend exercising, so I fit it in whenever possible. I do 15 minute exercise videos in between running the kids back and forth to school. I walk at least a few days a week. When I am work I do calf raises or squats when I am not busy. Do you have any tips that might help. I am so sick of being fat. I am willing to work hard, I just dont have alot of time. Please help.

I would say that the best thing you can do is make the time for workouts you have as intense as possible. Yesterday, I had very little time to workout so I superetted deadlifts 225lbs with handstand pushups. I did 21/15/9 reps for each exercise without taking any rest at all. The entire workout took me 11 minutes and three seconds. Today I am as sore as can be and feel great.

Train heavy to look sexy!

Here is another favorite workout of mine: Squat to shoulder press in one movement. These are called thrusters. Use dumbells or a barbell or whatever you have around the house that is heavy. Go get a chinup bar and stick it in the door way. If you cannot do chinups, then here is a great place to start getting stronger and a fantastic way to change your body FAST.

Superset the thrusters and the chinups (or chinups attempts) for 15/12/10 with no rest. I know chinups are hard but you can always do a jump up then lower combination until you can do the real ones.

Lack of results can always be traced back to a flaw in nutrition, training or medical. You cannot, I repeat CANNOT be perfectly healthy, be doing proper training and be eating in the proper way and not see tangible results from your efforts.

Here is a clip of my buddy and I hacking through a very poor form workout…but it was “fun”. :-)
