In my web travels today to do some sponsored reviews and I ran across a pool cue site called PoolDawg.com. It brought back some great memories of my Dad. Weird? Not really. When I was younger and living on a military base my dad ran the teens pool hall and arcade. I played street fighter so much that I still want to say “SHa-ROO-Kin!” when I punch in Muay Thai class.
I spent a lot of hours there shooting pool as well with my dad that could have been spent out getting into trouble. Actually, between working out and shooting pool, I only had time to get grounded maybe twice for drinking and general mischief.
It’s funny now when I look back I never really realized how lucky I was to first of all, spend that much time with my dad and second of all to be able to shoot pool for free when ever I wanted.
At any rate, I tell you that, to tell you this
It was a pretty big deal when you decided that you were tired of the “standard” crooked bent and mangled hall cues and decided to get one of your very own. One that didn’t bind on your hand regardless if you used baby powder or not. It was also a bit of a badge. It said “Hey! Guess what? I’m good enough that I need a better cue.” That’s what my head said anyway.
I can’t remember exactly the occasion but one day my Dad got me a smoking pool cue. It could have been my birthday but man was it beautiful. Had a case and everything. At any rate, if you shoot a bit of stick yourself, check out PoolDawg.com. They have the whole shooting match of top name brands and not just pool stuff. They carry dart boards, ping pong tables, cases, pool cues and everything else you’d want to order online in all the different price ranges. They also have a pretty cool library section on practice shots with diagrams and tips for shooting a better game.
I hope they put some trick shots up to practice too because that would be cool.
