Jumping Rope For Cardio Fat To Fit Program Question

Posted by Ray Burton | .

Article covers jumping rope for cardio; making diet changes; working out to burn fat and build muscle at the same time.

Ray,

I bought your program Fat to Fit. The book has answered many of my questions. I just have a few.

First, for the protein powder, is whey protein isolate lactose-free (specifically the one you used in your 5 minute shake video)?

Second, The diet plans go from 170 lbs and under to 200 lbs and over. I am 179. Do I just follow the 170 lb. plan? (I do appreciate the simplicity and affordability of the meal plans, by the way.)

Third, can I substitute jumping rope for the cardio? I am very much a beginner, but it is fun learning how to do it.

I have one additional question.

I am not overweight, body fat is 11-12%, but I would like to gain muscle and see my abs. Am I correct in assuming that I should follow the workout plan as written?

Thanks for your help!

Andre

Hi Andre, great questions.

Whey protein is VIRTUALLY lactose free but not 100%. I am lactose intolerant but when I use an isolate (like in the video) I never have a problem. If I do, it only happens as a result of not being used to getting that much protein at one sitting and that is what upsets my stomach.

As for the diet, Yes, go with the 170 plan and know that you have a little “wiggle room” with your diet if you get really hungry and you want some more food. (a little wiggle room, not a lot!)

You can ALWAYS substitute jumping rope for your cardio. I love using the rope and it burns a ton of calories fast. Actually in a new abdominal program I am releasing soon, Jumping Rope is about the only cardio in it.

Yes Andre, follow the program as written but make very sure that you never do an “easy” set. You MUST always lift the heaviest possible weight you can with proper form on every exercise of every set. I’ll also change my recomendation as to how your eating should be. Since muscle gain is important to you, I would still advise the 170lb eating plan but add in an extra protein shake.

If after two weeks, you seem to only be losing fat but not gaining muscle, I would like you to add in a handful of almonds at each meal or mix in a table spoon of olive oil into one of your meals. Make sure you are lifting heavy for you. That should do the trick. Gaining muscle yet getting leaner is a matter of stimulating the muscle and finding just the right amount of food intake. What I just expland should do the trick for you.

If for some reason your metabolism is just flying hot, then give me an email and I’ll send some more tips your way.

Great questions and thankyou for trusting me to help you along your way to your goals!
