I Thought I Was Doing Everything Right To Lose Weight

Here is an email I just recieved. The question seems complicated but the answer is simple. People often think they are doing everything right to lose weight when in fact, major pieces are missing.

Hi Ray,

Need a hand here. I am a mother of a 4 year old boy, and 6 month old twins – so I have a little (okay alot) of mommy chub.

I am 25, 5’4 and 175 pounds. Something needs to be done about my weight. Currently, I am writing down everything that I eat, and I dont exceed 1700 calories per day. And I get in all the water I need.

I stopped eating all crap and eat alot of fruits and veggies. I have just removed red meat from my diet and will be replacing it with fish and chicken, plus more veggies to compensate. I take vitamins, but no diet pills, no powder shakes etc

I walk the twins for 30 minutes, jog for 15, (5 days a week) and on some days I get on Tony littles Gazelle thing for 40 minutes for some low impact stuff. I am still working on jogging for a longer time (smoker for 13 years, just quit 2 months ago)

I have been doing this all since March and have only lost 2 pounds. What am I doing wrong? I burn around 200 to 400 calories per day, and have removed 400 from my diet. Should I not be loosing more? I have been very motivated until today when I just felt tired, and did not want to go out to excerise.

I relaly thought that I was doing everything right. Can you help?

THanks
