These are in response to questions asked at ASK RAY
I am a pear shape my thighs became solid as steel but my butt stays saggy what ever I do .I have big arms relatively to my narrow shoulders and thin waist, my biceps are great but my triceps are still flabby. What can I do? I am trying to loose 15 pounds. I want to loose 15 pounds and to tone my flabby triceps and saggy butt. Is there anyway to slim my thighs?,
Question Two:
Well in January I was in the hospital for Asthma, they had me hooked up to an iv that had prednisone in it. I also had to take prednisone for about a week after those 3 days, I was very hungry as you know it will make you gain weight. Well since then I have cut back on my calories just as I had been before Christmas. I have not had prednisone since Jan. 19th. I even started to the gym a few weeks ago. I worked out on the Elliptical for 40 to 50 mins 4 times that week, did not change my diet and didn’t lost an ounce! I was drinking 2 Starbuck mocha lites daily which are 100 cals. each. I gave those up last Sun over a week ago and still haven’t lost an ounce!
I have always like the high protein diet, if I go to low on the carbs I get really tired, exhausted! I do not know what your program is because just while ago was the first time I had been to your site. I did listen to the chapter you read and it was motivating, but then I start thinking there is no way I can get to 145 my goal weight unless I only eat 800 cal a day and work out each and everyday. I get up at 5:00 am to go to work, I like my job it is a desk job so I don’t burn much calories during the day. Some days I do.
I am almost 5’7, 55 years young and weight 175!! I have been so upset the last few months, well even before that because my metabolism is DEAD!
Yes it seems I can only have about 1100 a day and exercise to get to where I would like to be. Summer before last me and my friends took our dogs hiking. I did get down to 155.6 and could not believe my eyes. We were hiking approx 16 miles a week and I was only eating approx 1200 a day. No breads, no sweets, no mochas. I really have to stay in line. Well that was almost 2 years ago and here I am 20 pounds more!
Sorry yak, yak ,yak! I will complete the rest now. SURE HOPE YOU CAN HELP ME, TO FEEL FIT AND HEALTHY!
Hi You Two (they know who they are!), I actually just finished writing a letter to another women with the same types of problems. First I think you two are not eating ENOUGH and also that you NEED resistance training in there. We need to go over some of the basics! Please take a look at this page, see if it helps you with some info and then let me know if anything confuses you o.k?

Exercise And Training Tips Questions From You
I’ve been working on the V-sits for a week or so but can’t seem to keep my balance! I can do it with my arms to my sides above the ground to keep balance but doing a v-sit with my arms over my head seems almost impossible to do without losing balance and losing form. Just wondering if you had any pictures or videos of this exercise so I can see how it is done properly?
I am also about to start phase 2 of the program and love the results so far. I have lost about 4 percent body fat and gained a couple pounds of muscle. My friends are saying I am bulking up even when I don’t mention working out! It feels pretty good. My question is about cardio though.
I seem to be stuck between 11 and 12 percent body fat for the past week. I know this isn’t much time but my body fat percentage has really been falling fast in the previous weeks. I am wondering now if it is better to keep up the low level cardio to burn the fat off before I work in interval training into my routine, or is it better to do low level one day and interval the next to keep a more dynamic workout. Which would burn fat faster?
Thanks again for all your help Ray and good luck in your new project! Take care.

Hi Joel, I think your probably just making the vsits more complicated in your head then they really are. Here is a clip so you know what I am talking about over at Metacafe (leave a comment if you want!):
Also for the cardio the reason I switch you over to the interval training in the Fat To Fit Program is because your body is getting used to the steady state cardio after a month and needs a change. So don’t let confusion enter the picture and no real proof exists that you will get leaner with steady state cardio faster than interval training. If anything the opposite is true.
Tons of studies have been done that show the hormonal benefits as well as metabolism boosting effects of interval training. To look like a cheetah, run like a cheetah. I don’t know what runs long and slow, so I couldn’t give an example!
