Hello Ray,
I found your web site, signed up for the Deluxe program, and was wondering if you could answer a couple of questions for me. I’m an Endomorph body type. I weigh 300 lbs. I do really good on the low-carb “Atkins” type diets, but I noticed in your site (and others) that Endomorphs should eat complex carbs, which would “kill” the low carb concept by putting me over the daily intake of carbs. So, is it better that I lose weight on a low carb diet, or should I stick with your diet?
And why?
Also, I’m a “comfort eater”. I recently lost my 21-year-old son in an automobile accident and have gained 25 lbs. Can you give me any suggestions so I don’t go to get comfort from food? I know it’s a head game at this point, but can I somehow “retrain” my brain?
Thank you,

Hi (Name Withheld), I find that the low carb works but only for a limited time…because that’s when the comfort eating comes in. It is VERY hard to stay low carb for extended periods of time when you are active on an exercise program. There is a quote you will hear from a lot of trainers “fat burns in the flame of carbohydrates”. The trick is that they have to be GOOD carbs, the complex ones.
Part of the reason people comfort eat is because they don’t consitently feed thier body what it needs. I.E. Carboydrates (nutrients and vits)…then you lose your mind and start eating like its going out of style.
So long story short, please stick with the programs diet plan. It has worked for everyone that gives it an honest effort regardless of bodytype.
Now as for the loss of your son and the comfort eating. This is tuff for me to talk about because this is a very sensative subject of course. I honestly feel (as hard as it is to say) that we eat when we have nothing else that makes us happy at the moment. I dont know how else to say it but I think you need to get some passion back into your life. Something that really motivates you and gets you fired up. For me its snowboarding. When I’m on the hill, I dont even think about food because I am having so much fun. If I’m sitting on the couch board…guess what I am going to do? EAT. It’s easy and simple carbs feel like drugs.
So to wrap it up, eat some complex carbodyrates because it will stabalize your blood sugar levels which will help you burn fat as well as lessen the urges to comfort eat when your insulin levels drop.
Does that help you out?
